Do your bangs frizz up in high humidity? When you've taken the time to style your hair straight and the weather doesn't cooperate, it can be frustrating. Couple this with the fact that bangs are usually shorter and carry less weight than the rest of the hair, and you can see why they may be especially unruly. Thankfully, there are some tricks of the trade that you can follow to keep your bangs sleek and straight, even in the most humid conditions.
How to Keep Bangs Straight and Sleek in High Humidity
Wash and condition hair with shampoo and conditioner especially formulated for smoothing the hair. Blot dry with a towel to absorb excess water.
Apply a small amount of lightweight leave-in conditioner to hair and bangs. Focus mainly on tips, so as not to weigh down roots.
Blow dry hair in small sections, using a paddle brush. As you blow dry your bangs, guide them in the direction of your preferred style, whether straight down, or swept to one side. Marie Claire magazine recommends using a 1500-1800 watt blow dryer for best results to cut down on frizz.
Apply a straightening product, such as a serum or wax, to the bangs. Run it through with your fingertips to distribute evenly.
Run a hot flat iron through bangs to smooth. A ceramic iron, such as a Chi, lends smoothness and extra shine to the hair.
Spritz with a lightweight hair spray. Enjoy!
Tip
Adding clips to keep side swept bangs in place is another way to fight frizz and keep hair sleek.
Warning
Be sure to follow manufacturer's recommendations regarding temperature when straightening hair. Excessive heat can damage fine hair.
Block eyes and close mouth while using hair spray near the face.
