Skin tags are generally not cancerous, but they are unpleasant to look at and can be embarrassing. The eyes are an especially annoying area of the body for skin tags to appear. The eyes are a sensitive area, so some natural remedies for skin tags cannot be used in this area. Fortunately, there are ways to get rid of the skin tags, even if they’re on the eyes.
Things You'll Need
Consider Medical Attention Before Attempting Home Removal
Speak to a dermatologist about removing the skin tags. If the tag is close to the eye, especially when it is on the eyelid, a doctor should remove it to avoid damaging the eye.
If the skin tag is around the eye, but not very close to it, the tag can be removed at home. Tie a string around the skin tag. It needs to be tight to be effective, and it might take a few tries to get it right. A tight string will cut off circulation to the skin tag. After a few hours, it should become discolored. If it is not discolored, retie the string. Occasionally, tighten the string. Most skin tags will fall off when the blood supply is cut off.
An alternate method is to cut the skin tag off with scissors. Sterilize the scissors with an open flame or clean them with alcohol before attempting to cut the tag. Add a band aid immediately after cutting off the skin tag.
Do not use any chemicals, such as liquid nitrogen, to remove skin tags around the eyes. The chemical remedies can result in damage to the eye and should only be used when skin tags are not near the eyes.
