A ring is worn close to your skin and can accumulate dirt, grime, perspiration and dead skin cells in its inner grooves and crevices. This buildup can develop an unpleasant odor that may smell like a combination of sweat and old pennies. You can remove this odor from your platinum ring in just a few simple steps with common household ingredients.

Wash your platinum ring with warm, soapy water.

Use the soft brush to gently scrub the surface of the ring, paying particular attention to the inner surface.

Rinse the ring well, taking care to remove any soap residue from the gemstone settings.

Combine 1 tbsp. household ammonia and 1/3 cup warm water in a small bowl.

Place the ring in the ammonia solution and allow it to soak for 10 minutes.

Remove the ring from the solution and rinse it well. Dry the ring completely before wearing it.
