How to Dye Denim Dark Brown

Before you head out to buy another pair of expensive jeans, hold on. If you're simply looking for pair of dark-brown denim jeans and you have a pair of jeans at home that you like, try dyeing them with dark-brown fabric dye. One of the easiest ways to dye your jeans is by using your own washing machine.

Dye your denim clothing dark brown in your washing machine.

Step 1

Add your dark-brown fabric dye to 2 cups of hot water in a 4-cup container. Mix the solution until the dye has dissolved.

Step 2

Fill your washing machine halfway with hot water.

Step 3

Add the dye solution to the hot water in your washing machine.

Step 4

Soak your denim in hot water in a separate vessel, like your bathtub. Remove the denim, smooth it out and put it in the washing machine.

Step 5

Set your washing machine to its extended wash cycle using warm water and start it.

Step 6

Remove the denim from the washing machine and rinse it with cool water until the water runs clear.

Step 7

Hang the denim to dry.

Step 8

Clean your washing machine using the highest water level, hot water, laundry detergent and 1 cup of chlorine bleach.
