Before you head out to buy another pair of expensive jeans, hold on. If you’re simply looking for pair of dark-brown denim jeans and you have a pair of jeans at home that you like, try dyeing them with dark-brown fabric dye. One of the easiest ways to dye your jeans is by using your own washing machine.

Things You'll Need

Add your dark-brown fabric dye to 2 cups of hot water in a 4-cup container. Mix the solution until the dye has dissolved.

Fill your washing machine halfway with hot water.

Add the dye solution to the hot water in your washing machine.

Soak your denim in hot water in a separate vessel, like your bathtub. Remove the denim, smooth it out and put it in the washing machine.

Set your washing machine to its extended wash cycle using warm water and start it.

Remove the denim from the washing machine and rinse it with cool water until the water runs clear.

Hang the denim to dry.

Clean your washing machine using the highest water level, hot water, laundry detergent and 1 cup of chlorine bleach.
