How to Do Heavy Makeup

By LaurenKrotosky

Proper makeup application takes some know-how and practice in the appropriate techniques, a fact that is especially true when you need to apply heavy makeup, such as for a photo shoot or dance recital. When you take the time to layer the right makeup products and use the correct tools, you'll create a long-lasting look that will stay in place and will be easily seen, whether you are in a dark disco club or under the lights of a stage.

Step 1

Apply moisturizer to your face, as this will hold the foundation in place. Apply foundation that matches your skin tone with a makeup sponge. Apply face powder with a makeup brush to set the foundation.

Step 2

Dab some cream blush onto the apples of your cheeks. Apply powder blush over the cream blush with a makeup brush to set the cream in place.

Step 3

Spread a cream eye shadow onto your eyelid and cover with a powder eye shadow in the same shade. The powder on top of the cream lasts longer and will stand out more.

Step 4

Line your eyes with a black liquid eyeliner, which stands out better and lasts longer than a pencil eyeliner.

Step 5

Curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler for 15 seconds. Coat black mascara onto curled lashes and repeat up to three times.

Step 6

Define your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil.

Step 7

Coat your lips with foundation then cover them with a red lipstick. Line your lips with a lip liner to keep the lipstick in place. Apply lip gloss.
