Going to the spa is a great way to treat yourself to a special day. However, it is also very expensive. Luckily, there are ways of treating yourself to a spa day without ever leaving your home. To get the same beautiful results, use products you have in your kitchen pantry or refrigerator such as honey and salt.

How To Do Facial Spa Treatments At Home

Cleanse your body. The first step to achieving the best spa facial at home is to cleanse your skin with gentle cleansers. Make sure your cleanser removes surface oils, dirt and grime. If you have oily or combination skin, use gentle cleansers that remove excess oil effectively. If you have dry skin, choose cleansers that are creamy in texture and add extra moisture to your face.

Exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating your skin is one of the best ways to reveal youthful skin underneath. When exfoliating try not to use harsh sponges or pads. Scrubbing your skin so hard can actually do more damage than good. When exfoliating, use circular motions and use a gentle exfoliating cream to remove the dead skin cells. Try to focus on areas of your face that are prone to be oiliest, such as your nose, forehead and chin, collectively known as the "T-Zone."

Steam your face. Steaming your face is the best way to open your pores and clean them without using harsh chemicals. There are a couple of ways to do this. You can fill your sink or a bowl with very hot water. Bend your face over the bowl or sink and cover your face and bowl/sink with a towel. Stay in that position for at least five to 10 minutes so the steam can open your pores. If you are not able to bend over for a period of time, you can fill your sink with warm water (or as hot as you can tolerate) and dip a clean washcloth into the water. Put the washcloth on your face and press gently. Repeat this step two or three times so your pores will open up.

Apply a mask or pack. You can use a store-bought mask or make your own. Honey is a great mask for people with all types of skin and is highly recommended for people to use after a spa treatment. Honey also acts as a natural mask and peels right off. However, if you want to use store-bough masks, use a clay-based one for oily or combination skin and a hydrating mask for dry skin.

Moisturize. Once you have finished with your at-home spa facial, you need to moisturize your face. Moisturizing will give your face a radiant appearance, and all you have to do is apply the moisturizer to your face and allow it to work.
