Gelatin, an ingredient used in Jell-O, wine, cheesecakes, fruit dishes and other food items needs to be dissolved. How well the gelatin works can be affected if it is improperly dissolved. It doesn’t matter if the gelatin is flavored or not, it still needs to be dissolved. What you do with the dissolved gelatin depends on the recipe you use. For example, if you make a gelatin dessert, you might need to add cold water and fruit to the liquid.
Things You'll Need
Read the instructions on the gelatin package for how much water to use. Measure out the correct amount of water and pour it into the saucepan.
Place the saucepan on the stove. Turn the burner to medium heat and wait for the water to start boiling.
Pour the gelatin into a bowl. Pour the boiling water over the gelatin. Stir the gelatin with a spoon until the crystals dissolve in the hot water.
