Tea is a healthy, popular beverage that can be boiled in water for a hot, delicious drink. Green tea, black tea and white tea are all made from the same plants. The time of year that the leaf is picked determines the color of the tea. Sweet tea, which is brewed in boiling water, is very popular in the South.

Turn your stove dial to medium-high heat.

Fill the pot 2/3 of the way full with water while the stove eye is heating up. Turn the water off and place the pot on the eye of the stove.

Place the tea bags into the water when it begins to boil. Continue to boil for a few seconds and turn off the heat. Remove the pot from the heat and let the tea bags sit in the hot water for five minutes.

Tip

Add the tea bags after the water begins to boil to prevent too much tannin from being released into the tea. Stir the tea a few times while brewing.

Warning

Use caution when heating the stove before placing the pot on the burner.
