Bundt cakes get their name from the pan in which they are cooked. According to WiseGeek.com, Bundt pans are round with a hole in the middle. The pan's bottom is the top of the cake. The Bundt cake pan indentations help with serving sizes. Bundt cakes are so popular that there is a day set aside for the baking of the cakes. National Bundt Pan Day is held on Nov. 15.
