People have been using peppermint oil for hundreds of years to help relieve pain, cure illnesses, reduce fevers and fight off infections. Peppermint oil is used in a variety of ways: you can apply it directly to your skin to help cure headaches, inhale it to relieve congestion and smell it to reduce appetite. You can also drink peppermint oil to enjoy health benefits, including relief from heartburn, indigestion and nausea. You don't need any special medications the next time you are suffering from an upset stomach, just reach for your bottle of peppermint oil.

Brew a cup of your favorite herbal tea and allow it to steep for three to five minutes. Add one drop of peppermint oil to the tea and stir, then drink and enjoy the tea to relieve heartburn and help with digestion.

Boil a cup of hot water and pour it into a mug. Mix in two to three drops of peppermint oil and drink to help deal with an upset stomach. People who don't enjoy the taste of tea often find this hot peppermint drink very soothing and refreshing.

Pour yourself a glass of cold water and mix in one drop of peppermint oil. Drinking this beverage will help reduce your body temperature on a hot day. Try drinking it during the summer months in place of lemonade or iced tea for a calorie-free, thirst-quenching beverage.
