Though much maligned by some people, a good corset is a must have fashion accessory. Corsets give curves to the body, help with body posture, help mold your waist into shape and can be worn on formal occasions and to costume parties. If, for some reason, a corset is something you would never consider investing in, you can find many of the features of a corset in similar alternatives.
A bustier dress is a great alternative to a corset on special occasions. It’s basically a dress with a top that serves as a corset; therefore, you do not need to wear a corset inside anymore. It highlights your curves and gives your body that hourglass shape you’ve always wanted. Bustier dresses also come in different styles, shades and sizes. You can go for the floral look, the formal, pencil cut look or the simple yet elegant look.
A top shaper is a lightweight garment that you could wear under your blouse or dress. Its fitted style automatically showcases your waist and gives you attractive curves. It also has a cross pane at the back to help you get the right posture. It does not serve as a bra, because it only covers until below the chest, but it will lift your breasts up just like a push up bra.
An underwire bra is an undergarment that looks like a bustier dress without a skirt. Unlike some corset and bustier dresses, this is only for wear under clothes. It hugs your figure for a curvy look, and it keeps your breasts firm and lifted. Keep in mind, however, that if you only want to feature your chest area, some underwire bras don’t offer full coverage.
Shapewear Tank Top
If you’re only going out to the mall with your friends, for example, and you want to look slim and fit, a shapewear tank top is the perfect choice. It flatters your body just like a corset, but it’s more comfortable, simple and practical, and just like bustiers and top shapers, a shapewear tank top hugs your body, giving your stomach a flatter look and a curvier and more fitted look to the waist. Some of the shapewear tank tops are extended to showcase the curves on your hips, as well.
