Dandruff is an embarrassing scalp condition that plagues many individuals. The causes of dandruff range from genetics to poor diet and hygiene to environmental reasons. Dandruff often flakes off of the scalp in white or yellow flakes of skin that sometimes land on the collar of your shirt. Because dandruff is often itchy, there is a tendency to want to scratch the scalp with the fingernails. This could cause an infection and may make the problem worse. Satisfy the urge to scratch the flakes off of your scalp by using a natural scrub.
Rinse your hair, but do not shampoo it.
Scrub the scalp with a paste made from baking soda and a few drops of water. Use the pads of your fingertips and not your fingernails to scratch and scrub the scalp. The baking soda not only dislodges the dead skin cells, but helps to prevent the recurrence of dandruff.
Rinse the baking soda from the scalp and follow with an apple cider rinse. Mix one part apple cider vinegar to three parts water and pour the mixture over the scalp. Apple cider vinegar has natural healing properties for the skin and is antibacterial, anti-fungal and antimicrobial. Rinse the apple cider vinegar from the hair and style as usual.
