Reach no further than your refrigerator for a natural remedy to treat acne. Lime juice provides vitamin C and flavenoids, both containing antioxidant, antibiotic and disinfectant agents beneficial for clear skin, says OrganicFacts.com. Topical application works to slough off dead cells and promote skin elasticity and new skin growth, while taken orally, lime juice flushes out pores for a bright, clean complexion.

Lime Juice Wash

Lime juice, a natural antibacterial and exfoliating agent, can wash away your acne in two to three weeks with daily topical use. Cleanse your face thoroughly with soap and water. To prepare a lime juice wash, squeeze the juice of a fresh lime into a small bowl and soak a cotton ball with the juice. Pat the soaked cotton ball directly onto your acne and allow the juice to dry for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse it off with cold water.

The citric acid contained in a lime juice wash "is just strong enough to safely peel off the skin's upper layer," as cited in the book "Home Remedies What Works," and reported by Dr. Jerome Z. Litt, a Cleveland, Ohio, dermatologist.

Lime Juice and Pomegranate Poultice

A lime juice and pomegranate poultice helps to block blemishes by drawing out blackheads and drying up pimples, according to Ayurvedic-Medicines.com. Peel off the skin of a pomegranate and roast it in a 375-degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. When cooled, pulverize the roasted skin in a blender, as close to a powdery form as possible. Transfer the powder to a small bowl and add 1 tsp. of freshly squeezed lime juice. Stir until a paste forms. Apply the poultice to your blemishes and allow it to dry for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with cool water.

Lime Juice and Milk Facial Wash

A lime juice and milk facial helps to improve the skin by clearing up pimples, cleaning out blackheads and healing cracked skin, according to Ultimate-Cosmetics.com. Add the juice of one freshly squeezed lime into a tall glass of boiled milk. Allow it to cool off so as not to burn your skin. Use the wash in lieu of soap and water for two to three days. After each use rinse the wash off with warm water.

Lime Drink

A lime or lemon juice drink helps clear up acne by detoxifying the body, adding the healing and antioxidant powers of vitamin C and providing collagen to your skin, reports Hair and Beauty Tips website. Squeeze the juice of one lime into a tall glass of lukewarm filtered water. Drink it first thing upon awakening in the morning, and do not ingest anything else for 20 to 30 minutes. After two to three weeks, your complexion will see marked results.
