The Morning Routine Of Kathryn Budig While She Travels

By Sam Negrin

If there's one yogi I've been following for years before the phenomenon of Instagram, it's Kathryn Budig. I first started following her career when she taught at Yogaworks in Santa Monica, she's always been such an inspiration when it comes to following your passion and digging your (yogi)toes into every venture that makes your heart happy. Her key message throughout her entire career is "aim true" (you can find over 212K #aimtrue hashtags on Instagram!), which embodies just that.

Are you ready for her incredible list of inspiring accomplishments? She has graced the cover of Yoga Journal numerous times, served as the yoga editor for Women's Health magazine for five years, sat on the Yahoo Health Advisory Board, regularly contributes to Yoga Journal, The New Potato and Mind Body Green, she was an athlete in Under Armour's 2016 "I WILL WHAT I WANT" campaign, regularly teaches online classes on Yogaglo.com, is the founder of her animal project, Poses for Paws, author of The Women's Health Big Book of Yoga and Aim True_, and the co-host of espnW's podcast, _Free Cookies. WOWZA.

And now you can find out how a boss lady like this stays true to herself, healthy and clear headed on-the-road! Watch the episode below for all the deets:

7AM, FaceTime the puppies!

Must see the fur babies <3

7:15, Skincare

First things first: the "Bath of Torture," a big bucket of ice water to de-puff and seriously wake you up. Dunk 2-3 times for 10 seconds each, if you dare!

"I love my face products, anything on the road to make me feel like myself, because if there's anything that travel does, it does not make you feel like yourself," says Kathryn. First, she loves the Trilogy Rosapene Radiance Serum, followed by the Drunk Elephant Marula Oil (_holy grail product!_) and the goop Revitalizing Day Cream. Can't forget the eye cream (be sure to watch the episode to see why)! Kathryn uses Trilogy CoQ10 Eye Recovery Concentrate. FYI, the jumping bunny stamp of approval on beauty products confirms that the item is organic, natural, cruelty-free.

Next up... makeup! The Vapour Beauty Instant Skin Perfecter, "it feels so freakin' good, it's a base before you put on foundation and it makes you dewy and luminous, since I've been using this my skin has gotten so much softer." Followed by the Vapour Beauty Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation with the three-finger-dab method. Under eye concealer is by Benefit ("the only non-organic beauty item that I'm having difficulty kicking"). And NEWS ALERT: Coming soon, Kathryn's collaboration with Vapour Beauty on a highlight, cheek and lip palette! ;)

Lastly, dry brush and body love! "I dry brush because I have really bad allergies and dry brushing is all about improving your lymphatic system. The rule for dry brushing is that you always brush towards your heart," says Kathryn.

7:45, Supplements & Beauty Water

"This is what I take with me when I'm traveling, my person calls it Damage Control." My pre- and pro-biotic from Perscript Assist, next is a tincture mix from Standard Process of liquid echinacea, ashwagandha, and licorice root (about 1 tsp) along with the Vital Proteins Beauty Water Collagen. "The best explanation for collagen that was given to me, is the analogy of your tummy as a screen door that has little holes in it, and the collagen basically goes in it and patches up those holes in the screen." And lastly, "I travel with a ton of oils," Breathe and Digest Zen blends from Doterra for my allergies or tummy issues.
