Colored hairspray is commonly used to conceal gray and bald spots, and for wig users, it helps get uniform color for the hair and the wig. Although a very quick solution to such concerns, removing colored hairspray from different surfaces requires more attention and technique to properly execute.

Hair

To remove colored hairspray on your hair and comb, combine baking soda with either shampoo or hot water, until it forms a paste. Apply the paste to the hair and allow it to set for a few minutes. Rinse it off and follow with a conditioner; as baking soda can drastically dry hair. Dishwashing detergent in paste form, apple cider vinegar mixed with lukewarm water, mayonnaise, powdered laundry detergent, or a mixture of baking soda, shampoo and dishwashing detergent can also be used.

Walls

Accidentally spraying colored hairspray on walls can cause serious aesthetic damage, if not cleaned properly. Mix fabric softener and water in a ratio of 1:2 and generously spray it around the stain. Leave the solution to permeate; then gently rub it off with cloth. Baking soda paste, vinegar, rubbing alcohol, and lemon will also work. Commercial bathroom cleaners can also do the job.

Clothes

Blotting the fabric with clean white cloth moistened with a mixture of dishwashing soap and water -- or with a commercial dry cleaning solvent -- should get the stain off. More stubborn stains can be removed with a little ammonia; around one tablespoon in half a cup of water, or white vinegar with warm water. Ammonia shouldn’t be used on silks or wools.

Skin and Other Surfaces

A lot of soap and water normally removes colored hairspray from skin. If the hairspray can’t be removed using the usual soap and water treatment, try isopropyl alcohol, white or apple cider vinegar, dishwashing liquid, acetone, or a baking soda paste. Leave them on the skin for a few minutes and then wash it off with soap and water.
