Aloe Vera is a plant that contains a substance with healing properties. It has been used for centuries for skin and internal health issues. The most pure form of aloe Vera is from the plant itself. There are also plenty of aloe Vera gel products available at drugstores. There are myriad uses of aloe Vera gel on the face.
Moisturizer
Aloe Vera gel is useful as a moisturizer for the skin. That is especially the case if you have oily, acne-prone skin. It nourishes oily skin without adding too much moisture. Apply it before bed and even in the morning if you choose. Aloe Vera gel can also double as a primer and control if you wear it under makeup. It also works well for dry, flaky skin, as aloe Vera is a humectant that seals moisture into the skin.
Skin Irritation
Aloe Vera gel is effective for soothing sensitive skin. Whether the skin on your face is suffering from a rash or irritation after shaving, aloe Vera gel will heal the skin and has a cooling sensation. Aloe Vera helps the skin turn over by regenerating new cells. That promotes healing and reduces pigmentation caused by skin irritation.
Sunburn
Aloe Vera gel is a home remedy for sunburns. It's a common ingredient in commercial products to treat sunburns. Using the gel from the central section of the aloe Vera plant leaf is ideal. If that is unavailable, use commercial aloe Vera gel. Look for a gel that does not contain many extraneous ingredients, such as alcohol, as that will further irritate sunburns.
Psoriasis
Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that presents itself on the skin, both on the body and on the face. Aloe Vera can soothe and heal the itchy lesions that may occur on the face. Use aloe Vera directly from the plant for maximum results. To use aloe Vera to treat psoriasis on the face, wash the affected area with mild cleanser, one indicated for sensitive skin. Apply the aloe Vera gel at a minimum of two times per day. The recommended application to treat psoriasis is four times per day.
