A food processor is a piece of equipment used in cooking to make sauces, pesto, soups and salad dressings, among other things. It helps puree food and mix ingredients together. Kitchenaid is a leading brand of cooking equipment, and its food processor is attractive and simple to use.

Set the food processor down on a solid, level area. Plug the cord into an electrical outlet.

Grab the tall, skinny tube on top (this is where you can add ingredients as you process food) and turn it firmly to the left. This will make the top of the food processor come off so you can fill it with ingredients.

Set the top aside. Place the recipe ingredients to be processed into the food processor. Do not fill it more than halfway.

Place the top of the food processor back on, and firmly turn it to the right to lock it shut. Hold onto the top, and press the On button toward the bottom of the food processor's base. You need to push the Pulse or Puree button. Which one to use depends on the type of food you are making, or the ingredients you are using. (Consult the food processor manual for information on pulsing and pureeing.)

Let the food processor run until the ingredients are combined. To open the food processor, repeat Step 2. Then take the food processor off the base by twisting it to the left and lifting up. Use a spatula to get the mixture out of the food processor and deposit it into a pan or bowl.


The food processor parts are dishwasher safe, but do not get the base wet, because it is electrical.
