Ripe papayas moisten the lungs, relieve coughs and asthma, and are excellent sources of vitamins A, C and E. But whatever your use, keep papayas ripe, fresh and ready to use.
Keep unripe papayas with a banana in a paper bag at room temperature.
If the papaya is green, let it ripen at room temperature to an orange-yellow color.
Place in a plastic bag in refrigerator once ripe.
Store for no more than a week.
Try to eat ripe papayas within 1-2 days.
