Foot in the water

Healthy foot care includes a soothing soak in warm water at the end of each day. A 15 minute soak in a foot bath removes the dead skin, sweat and bacteria that come out of the 250,000 sweat glands in the feet. When you care for your feet in this simple way you not only eliminate foot odor but also relieve stress throughout your body.

Warm the water and put it in a regular foot bath or in a dishpan you keep for this purpose. Warm water soothes the feet better than hot water. Make sure not to burn your feet.

Add table salt, sea salt or a dish washing liquid that has lotion in it.

Soak your feet for about 15 minutes.

Rub your wet feet with a pumice stone or loofah to help remove the dead skin.

Pat your feet dry.

Apply a nice lotion to help keep your feet soft.

  • As part of your healthy foot care you can exercise your feet gently in the water by drawing circles in the water.

  • A solution made of glycerin and rose water makes an inexpensive but luxurious lotion.

  • After your foot bath, lie on your back and put your feet up on a chair seat or high stack of pillows for 10 or 15 minutes. This improve circulation and releases stress.
