Deep wrinkles between the eyebrows are sometimes referred to as frown lines because they tend to give the impression that you are angry or grumpy. As you get older you lose fat, collagen and elastin in your face and this causes wrinkles, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. There are various treatments to remove wrinkles between the eyebrows including microdermabrasion, face peel, laser skin resurfacing, injectables and forehead lifts.
Purchase a microdermabrasion kit. Microdermabrasion can smooth the fine wrinkles in your forehead through the process of exfoliating the dead skin cells off the top layer, revealing newer softer skin underneath. You can purchase a microdermabrasion kit in the skin care section of your drug store and perform the exfoliation at home. Microdermabrasion is only effective on small wrinkles between your eyebrows.
Get a chemical face peel done by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Your doctor will apply a chemical to strip the top layers of your skin away. After a week of healing at home, your skin will be smoother with less wrinkles. This procedure is effective on small to moderate wrinkles.
Try laser skin resurfacing. This is done with a laser by your dermatologist or plastic surgeon. During the treatment, a specialist will remove the outermost layer of skin with a laser. Your skin will be raw and red and you will need to recuperate at home for a few days. After your skin heals it will be smoother and have less wrinkles. This procedure is effective on small to moderate wrinkles.
Choose the injectable that will work best for you.
Bovine collagen injections work by numbing the muscles between your eyebrows so they will relax and not pull together, causing deep wrinkles. The doctor will inject small amounts of the bovine collagen into the wrinkle lines between the eyebrows. You lines will immediately relax and smooth out. This type of injectable will last three to six months at which time you will need to have another injection to keep the effects. This is a very effective method of removing temporarily the wrinkles between the eyebrows.
A hyaluronic acid injection will plump and add substance under the skin smoothing or filling the line area between the eyebrows. This injection will last between six and eight months and needs to be re-injected for results to remain.
Injecting your own fat, also known as fat transfer, is a procedure in which your doctor performs liposuction on your hip or belly and moves the fat to the lines between the eyebrows by injecting it and plumping the area with fat. This procedure can last between two to five years if done properly.
Get a forehead lift. A forehead lift is a permanent surgical method of removing the wrinkles between your eyebrows and forehead. Your plastic surgeon will surgically tighten and lift the skin to remove the wrinkles.
