How to Make Coconut Oil and Peppermint Body Lotion

By Christopher Godwin

Coconut oil and peppermint body lotion is a simple, easy to prepare homemade lotion that will nourish dry, damaged skin and aid circulation. Making your own body lotion has other benefits, including saving a lot of money over expensive store-bought products. Many commercial products also contain potentially harmful preservatives and additives. Coconut oil and peppermint body lotion will keep for about one month if stored in a dark, dry place.

Step 1

Mix the distilled water and borax in a small saucepan over low heat until the borax dissolves in about two minutes. Stir the mixture with a disposable stirrer and remove from the stove.

Step 2

Combine the raw coconut oil, vitamin E oil, beeswax and almond oil in a separate saucepan and heat until the beeswax melts. Remove from heat and set aside until needed.

Step 3

Slowly pour the borax mixture into the saucepan with the beeswax and vitamin E oil while stirring with a wire whisk.

Step 4

Add the peppermint essential oil to the mixture and stir to combine.

Step 5

Continue stirring the mixture until it is room temperature. Transfer the lotion to a clean, shallow glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.
