The aroma of cinnamon rolls baking in the oven is enticing. Whether it's a special morning treat or an afternoon tea get-together, cinnamon rolls are cause for celebration. Add icing, and you have the perfect roll. Cinnamon roll icing is easy to make. It takes only three ingredients, which you probably have in your kitchen.
Put the confectioners sugar in the medium mixing bowl.
Pour the milk into a measuring cup, add the vanilla to the milk and stir.
Add the milk and vanilla mixture to the confectioners sugar slowly and stir as you add it. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk or cream. If the mixture is too thin, add more confectioners sugar.
Pour the mixture into a resealable plastic bag. Snip the corner of the bag, just large enough for a small stream of icing to pour out.
Apply the icing to the cinnamon rolls. If you want the icing to melt into the cinnamon rolls, don't let the rolls cool before applying the icing. If you want the icing to harden onto the rolls, wait until the rolls cool and then add the icing. Apply the icing in swirls for a decorative effect.
Add melted butter for a richer icing. If you add 1 tbsp. melted butter, decrease 1 tbsp. milk or cream. Substitute a flavored coffee creamer for the milk or cream.
Avoid using skim milk or low-fat milk. The icing will not be as rich.
