There are a number of appliances on the market that will make a waffle type of ice cream cone, but unless you make them regularly, they may not be worth the expense. A traditional waffle maker and a funnel will allow you to make ice cream cones at home without having to spend the money for a pricey machine. The process is simple, and when complete, you'll have eight waffle cones to fill with the ice cream of your choice and share with family and friends.
Preheat your waffle maker using a darkness setting of medium.
Dip a pastry brush into cooking oil, and lightly oil the outside of a large funnel.
Prepare your waffle cone recipe. Or mix the following until smooth: 2 eggs, 1/4 tsp. salt, 2/3 cup sugar, 2 tbsp. vegetable oil, 1 cup cake flour and 1 tsp. vanilla extract.
Place 2 to 3 tbsp. of batter in the center of your waffle maker. Close the lid.
Open the lid of the waffle maker when the light goes off signifying the waffle is done.
Work quickly by lifting the waffle from the maker and wrapping the waffle around the funnel. Fold the bottom opening of the cone upward, and press the ends of the cone together.
Allow the cone to cool on the funnel, and then slide it off the funnel. Repeat with the remaining batter.
