Aspirin tablets can be used for more than just curing headache symptoms. You can achieve clear and healthy-looking skin by regularly applying an aspirin facial mask. Aspirin tablets contain a crystalline compound derived from salicylic acid — the primary ingredient found in many commercial facial masks and acne treatments. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxyl acid, or BHA, which helps to cleanse pores, remove dead skin cells and heal blemishes. The complete process for making an aspirin facial mask can be completed in several minutes.

Things You'll Need

Combine 1/2 tsp. jojoba oil or water with 1 tsp. honey in a small glass bowl. Jojoba oil is recommended for those who have normal to dry skin. Water should be used if you have oily skin.

Fill a large glass bowl with hot water. Place the smaller glass bowl into the larger glass bowl. The heat of the water will help to soften the ingredients in the small glass bowl.

Crush four uncoated aspirin tablets with a fork. Add the crushed aspirin tablets to the small glass bowl and mix the ingredients together with a spoon. Continue to stir until the mixture becomes a smooth paste.

Leave the mask on for 15 minutes and rinse.

  • For aspirin spot treatments, crush 1 aspirin and add to 5 drops of water. Apply the combination to the affected area and cover with a band-aid. Remove the band-aid after 60 minutes and rinse the area. This will reduce redness and irritation.

  • Add 1 tsp. aloe vera to the standard aspirin facial mask recipe to serve as an exfoliant. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes and rinse. Follow with a light application of facial moisturizer.
