Smoothies can provide a cooling nutrient boost during the hot summer months. You can use any type of fruit or vegetable you like, and you can create smoothies with a juice, water or milk base. Keep the doctor away with a daily apple smoothie. But because apples in a blender will create something closer to apple sauce than a smoothie, it's a good idea to add other fruits such as strawberries to an apple smoothie.
- 1 cup low-fat strawberry yogurt
- 6 oz. frozen strawberries
- 1 apple
- 1 tbsp. Sugar
- 1 cup ice cubes
Prepare the apple. Peel and core the apple. Then, cut the rest of the apple into pieces.
Blend the fruit. Put the apple, yogurt, strawberries and sugar into the blender. Blend until smooth.
Add the ice. While the blender is running, add one ice cube at a time to the smoothie mixture until the smoothie is thick.
