How to Get Rid of an Eye Pimple (Stye or Sty)

An eye pimple, also known as a stye or sty, can be embarrassing when one crops up. You feel it coming on when your eye is a little tender when you blink. A small bump may also start to form on the edge of your eyelid, and then eventually the entire eye becomes swollen. Don't freak out—this is a common condition and there's an easy way to get rid of it. Often an eye pimple goes away on its own, but here's how to facilitate.

Step 1

Take a clean washcloth, dip it into hot water, and gently press it on your eye that has the eye pimple. Hold this for 20 to 30 seconds, then replenish the hot water on the cloth and repeat a few times.

Step 2

Take two fingers and gently massage the area around the eye pimple. There's usually a small bump visible. Massaging the area will reduce the inflammation.

Repeat this process four times a day until the zit is gone.
