Many styling techniques that use heat and harsh chemicals can leave your hair damaged. These include: coloring, bleaching or highlighting your hair; perms or chemical relaxers; blow-drying and flat-ironing. Before you decide to cut off your fried hair ends, there are several things you can do to try and bring your hair back to life.
Wash your hair only once or twice a week. This will allow natural oils to build up, which promotes healthy moisture in your hair.
Condition your hair after every shampoo. Leave the conditioner on as long as possible.
Use a deep conditioning treatment once or twice a week. Purchase a commercial deep conditioning product or try olive oil or mayonnaise. Apply this treatment when the hair is completely dry. Allow the hair to soak up as much of the deep conditioning treatment as possible before washing.
Avoid hair dryers, curling and straightening irons. The heat from these appliances may further damage your hair.
Visit your hair stylist for regular trims. Keeping split ends trimmed keeps your hair looking less fried, and eventually all of your fried hair will grow out and be trimmed away.
