Many facial creams come designed for use during either the day or the night. Though formulations may be similar, day creams should have sunscreen ingredients to help defend your skin from the wrinkle-causing effects of the sun, advises skincare expert Paula Begoun. For the best results for nourishing and turning back the signs of time on your skin, choose an anti-aging night or day cream that's been praised by experts.
Dr. Denese New York Hydroshield Hydrating Dream Cream
This night cream will definitely seem like a dream cream, reports Begoun, who tested it and said it helps to make your skin feel amazing thanks to state-of-the-art ingredients. These include lipids, skin-nourishing ceramides and wrinkle-fighting retinol, which may also help improve skin collagen levels, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Clinique Youth Surge Night Moisturizer
The best night cream in 2010 was Clinique's Youth Surge product, according to the beauty editors of "InStyle" magazine. They loved its use of natural ingredients that help fight wrinkle-causing damage. This includes skin-plumping wheat bran and mulberry root extract. The latter is high in antioxidants, which can help defend against cellular damage from free radicals, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Estee Lauder Time Zone Line & Wrinkle Reducing Moisturizer SPF 15
Begoun praised Estee Lauder's daytime moisturizer for its use of avobenzone and other sunscreen ingredients, which help to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. She says it also includes numerous antioxidants. The University of Maryland Medical Center says that topical antioxidants can help reduce aging-inducing skin cell damage. Begoun concludes that this day cream "is incredibly sophisticated."
Olay Regenerist DNA Superstructure UV Cream SPF 25
"Marie Claire" magazine recommends Olay's Regenerist day cream as a good non-prescription alternative to retinoid treatments. The cream conveniently dispenses from an aerosol-powered container. It's formulated with sunscreen ingredients that provide an SPF of 25. Additional beneficial ingredients include antioxidants like niacinamide and skin moisturizers like glycerin.
