Harsh chemical treatments, a poor diet, stress and heat are some of the many factors that can cause hair breakage. A common reason for hair breakage is that the ends are excessively dry. Fortunately, help is but only a few steps away in your refrigerator. Many foods have the vitamins and nutrients needed to repair dry brittle hair. Here are a few treatments that can replenish the moisture your hair is lacking.
Hot Oil Treatment
Coconut oil will penetrate the hair and make it stronger. Heat about 6 tbsp. of oil in the microwave and it let it cool to a warm temperature. Rub the oil into your scalp all the way through to the ends of your hair. Cover your hair with a cap and leave it on for at least four hours, then shampoo and condition.
Avocado Deep Conditioner
Avocado oils penetrate all the way into the hair shaft. With 15 percent fat content, avocados also are moisturizing. Combine a ripe banana and avocado together, spread into your hair and leave on for 1 hour, then rinse with warm water, shampoo and condition.
The Egg Yolk and Olive Oil Treatment
This treatment can be applied once a week for hair breakage. Combine 1 egg yolk and 2 tbsp. of olive oil then apply to wet hair. Work into your hair, concentrating on the ends. Avoid the scalp and leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse hair and shampoo as usual to remove the treatment.
Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse
Apple cider vinegar is an effective conditioning rinse and can improve shine in your hair. Mix 2 cups water and 1/2 cup vinegar and apply the rinse after shampooing, then rinse out. For an extra conditioning treatment, leave the rinse in your hair.
