When skin cells grow in small groupings rather than spread, they form small brownish spots known as moles. The majority of adults have anywhere from 10 to 40 moles on their skin, so a mole on the neck is not unusual. Although it might not bother you most days, covering that unwanted mole may become an issue on special occasions. When that is the case, use makeup to minimize the appearance of the mole.
Things You'll Need
Wash your neck with your preferred facial cleanser. Rinse off the cleanser and pat your skin dry with a towel. Dampen a cotton ball with an astringent or toner. Wipe it across the mole to remove any excess oil that can prevent the makeup from adhering to your skin. Wait for the astringent to dry.
Apply a thin layer of facial moisturizer to the area. Allow the moisturizer to set for two to three minutes to form a base for your makeup.
Dab a liquid or stick concealer directly on the mole. Choose a concealer that closely matches your skin tone. Pat at the concealer to blend it into the mole and the surrounding skin. Wait one or two minutes for the concealer to set.
Apply a liquid foundation directly over the mole with a makeup brush, foam makeup applicator or your clean fingertips. Blend the foundation over the mole and the surrounding skin. If the mole is still visible, apply a second thin layer of liquid foundation. Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone and wait three to five minutes for the liquid foundation to set.
Load a medium-to-large makeup brush with loose or pressed powder that closely matches your skin tone. Tap the makeup brush on the edge of the powder container to remove the excess. Brush the powder over the foundation to help it stay put throughout the day.
Slip the foundation, concealer and powder into a handbag and reapply as needed.
