Weaves are pieces of hair that are sewn or glued into your hair to create length or thickness. You need to gently treat the weave in order to maintain it. Use a special brush, called a looper brush, to comb weaves. If you have short, black hair with a weave consider wearing your hair in a bob. This versatile style can be worn curly, sleek and straight or with loose waves.

Sleek and Straight Bob

The sleek and straight bob looks elegant and shiny and is appropriate to wear to virtually any event. Black hair looks especially shiny and attractive in a sleek and straight bob because of how light bounces off of it. This is a good style to wear shortly after your weave has been put in. Straightening your hair will highlight imperfections within the weave. Because you do not want to over stress your weave allow your hair to air dry. Once the hair is dry take 2-inch sections and run it through an ionic ceramic straightener. Use the lowest temperature possible to create straight hair. Repeat straightening until all of the hair is straight and sleek. Finish by misting your hair with a high-shine spray.

Wavy Bob

The wavy bob is a great look to wear when your weave is starting to show its age. Damage and split ends are not as noticeable when the hair is wavy, and this style will add dimension and life to your weave. Start this look on hair that has air dried. Place your index fingers above each of your ears and trace them back until they meet. This will separate the top half of your hair from the bottom half. Pull the top half up and secure with a clip. Wrap 3-inch sections of hair around a curling iron and release the hair after a few seconds. Use a smaller curling iron for a smaller and tighter wave and a larger curling iron for a looser wave. Repeat the process until the bottom half of hair has been styled. Release the clip and repeat the process on the top half of hair.

Curly Bob with Volume

Create height, curl and volume by wrapping your hair up in hot rollers. This fun and flirty look adds dimension to black weaves and is appropriate to wear on dates or a night out on the town. When hair is dry, pull the top half up and secure with a clip. Roll 2-inch sections of hair up in hot rollers until the bottom half has been styled. Release the clip and repeat the process on top half of hair. Remove hot rollers after they have cooled, starting at the bottom of your hair and working your way up. Run your fingers through the curls and gently mist with hairspray.
