Sunburns and other burns are painful and heal slowly. However, one of the “at home” treatments for small burns and sunburns is essential oil, specifically lavender essential oils. Lavender is the only essential oil you can use on burns. However, there many ways you can use lavender to treat burns.
Things You'll Need
Dab lavender essential oil gently to the burn, using a cotton ball or your fingers. Most experts agree that lavender essential oil does not need to be diluted with carrier oil.
Try a cool bath or immersing the burn in cool water. Add a few drops of lavender to the water and soak the area for 15 minutes.
Put a drop of lavender essential oil in a cool compress and put over the burn. Apply fresh compresses every 15 minutes.
Dribble a few drops of lavender essential oil in a spray bottle full of cool water. Spray the burn with your squirt bottle, especially if the burn is too tender to touch or apply a cool compress.
