Strawberries are best during their peak season from April to July. They can be used in recipes or eaten right out of the basket. Adding sugar to sliced berries is a favorite of many people. This is a relatively simple thing to do and they can be stored in the refrigerator and eaten for the next four to five days. You may also store berries with sugar in the freezer bags or airtight containers in the freezer.
Things You'll Need
Wash strawberries thoroughly. Remove stems and hulls from each berry.
Slice each berry into a bowl. These can be sliced any way you wish.
Sprinkle sugar onto the berries to taste. Stir thoroughly and gently. Keep in mind that the sugar will bring out the natural juice of the berries making a syrup.
Let berries sit for 15 minutes or so until sugar is dissolved. Taste and add additional sugar, if necessary.
