Lines around your lips make you look older and may diminish your self-confidence. Short of cosmetic surgery, it is nearly impossible to reverse lip creasing, but changes in your skin care may slow the formation of new lines. Lip wrinkles develop when the skin around the mouth loses elasticity. Age and smoking contribute to this problem. With some vigilance, your lips will look smoother with less prominent lip lines. Learn how to stop the wrinkling of the lips with daily skin care.
Things You'll Need
Exfoliate your lips by applying a fine scrub to your bare lips and the skin around your lips.
Rub the scrub over lips and the surrounding skin with the pad of your clean index finger. This removes old skin cells and reveals the younger skin underneath.
Leave the scrub on the scrub for one minute and then rinse with cool/warm water. Pat your lips dry with a towel. Use the lip scrub treatment once a week to keep the lip and surrounding skin healthier and smoother.
Apply a lip balm that contains antioxidants to your lips. Antioxidants encourage new collagen production. Collagen is necessary for firmer skin.
Reapply the lip balm twice a day to slow further development of lip lines.
Roll on lipstick that contains sunscreen when you plan to go outdoors.
Dab your current lip lines with wrinkle filler before applying your makeup. This will hide lip lines and prevent further wrinkling.
