Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world, and Starbucks is a recognized coffee brand all over the world. It’s a chain that continues to grow annually – as of March, 2011, Starbucks boasts more than 17,000 stores in 49 countries around the world. During its 40 years of operation, the menu has expanded to include other beverages like smoothies and various food items. If you plan on ordering a complicated drink, consider getting prepared while you wait in line.
Familiarize yourself with the menu before you get in line. You can browse through the hot coffee drinks, blended drinks and espresso drinks which are some of the more complicated ones. Knowing the difference between a cappuccino and a latte is also helpful. A latte is espresso with steamed milk that is heated to approximately 150 degrees F, and a cappuccino is espresso with steamed milk that is frothed with a frothing pitcher and a wand.
Decide what type of drink you want such as an iced coffee drink, a hot coffee drink, or a coffee drink with flavored syrup such as a iced caramel macchiato. This drink is espresso with vanilla flavored syrup, milk and caramel sauce over ice, and a regular caramel macchiato is served hot. A frappuccino is a blended drink similar to a milkshake. Various flavors are available such as mocha, cinnamon, vanilla and peppermint mocha. Once you have decided what type of drink you want, say it to yourself so that you are prepared when you get to the counter.
Approach the counter and tell the barista which drink you have decided to buy. If you are unsure of exactly what to order, Starbucks employees are knowledgeable about the menu and can offer you suggestions. Also tell them what size you want because Starbucks has different sizes for some of their drinks. Wait for the barista to prepare your order and enjoy.
