Cinnamon sugar sprinkles add flavor to toast, pancakes, popcorn and most sweet dessert recipes. Keeping a shaker of premixed cinnamon sugar in the spice cabinet provides a sweet pick-me-up for a variety of dishes. Premixing also saves time, since you won’t need to mix fresh cinnamon sugar each time you need it. Find the right ratio of cinnamon to sugar to ensure your mixture has enough cinnamon flavor to prevent the sugar from overpowering your dish.
Things You'll Need
Place the sugar into a bowl. Add the cinnamon to the sugar.
Stir the sugar and cinnamon together with a spoon. Stir until the mixture is thoroughly combined. The mixture has an even, light brown color once mixed completely.
Pour the mixture into a storage container. Seal the container closed. Store in a dry pantry until you are ready to use it.
Reuse an empty spice shaker container for holding the cinnamon sugar. Wash it out completely so the flavor of the previous contents doesn’t transfer to the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Use a small butter container as a cinnamon sugar shaker. Poke three or four holes in the lid. Lay a sheet of plastic wrap over the top of the container then place the lid on it. Remove the plastic wrap before use.
