Many store-bought face masks contain chemicals that could be hard on sensitive skin. You can make an all-natural face mask at home and know that it is free of additives and safe for the skin. Teens often have problems with oily skin and acne, so you can make a face mask especially tailored to target these problems. Teenagers may enjoy making and applying face masks as part of a sleepover party.
Things You'll Need
Mash one banana in a mixing bowl, using a potato masher.
Pour in the oatmeal and lukewarm water and mix with a wooden spoon until a paste is formed. The oatmeal will create a grainy texture, which will exfoliate the skin. Exfoliation helps fight acne, a common problem in teenage skin.
Add two drops of tea tree oil and two drops of peppermint oil. Both of these ingredients are known for their antiseptic and astringent properties, which help with acne and oily skin.
Apply the face mask and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes, then wash it off with warm water.
This recipe should be enough for three to four face masks. Increase or decrease the ingredient amounts to adjust for more or fewer applications.
