Lotion delivers nutrients to your skin by means of absorption. When you apply lotion to your skin, it also soaks in hydration that softens its surface. Ingredients such as cucumbers and melons — which are both high in natural moisture — are common in lotions. You can make your own lotion at home, using these two ingredients for a natural home-spa treatment.
Things You'll Need
Prepare one cucumber and one melon by peeling away their skin with a peeling knife. Slice them in half.
Scoop out the seeds from both, and chop them into one-inch-by-one-inch cubes.
Place 1/4 cup of each into a food processor and blend until you have created a fine juice. Store the remaining cubes in the refrigerator for later use.
Bring one cup of water to a boil and add a melon-flavored tea bag. Allow this to steep for five minutes.
Microwave 1/4 cup of emulsifying wax in a glass container for 10-second increments, until liquefied. You can buy the wax at most craft stores.
Combine 1/4 cup of olive oil, the melon flavored tea and the cucumber melon juice. Stir until the mixture has an even consistency.
Store the mixture in the refrigerator between uses. This lotion contains no preservatives: It will spoil if left at room temperature for more than a few hours.
