Certain women desire the fashionable look of pin-straight hair and use chemical straighteners or hair weaves to achieve this style. The most common method of straightening hair involves the use of a heated flat iron that severely damages the hair’s shaft over time. Straighten your hair naturally at home with hair-friendly ingredients and without the use of direct heat.

Things You'll Need

Coconut Paste

Combine 1 cup of coconut milk with 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice in a cup. Place this mixture in the refrigerator for 30 to 60 minutes or until the liquid turns into a paste.

Apply the cool coconut paste to your entire head of hair, and allow the paste to sit for 10 minutes.

Rinse out the coconut paste with cool water, and comb your wet hair with a wide-toothed comb.

Allow your hair to air-dry. Repeat this process weekly for naturally straight, shiny hair.

Milk, Honey and Strawberries

Mash three large strawberries in a small bowl with a fork.

Combine the mashed strawberries with 1 cup of milk and 2 tsp. of honey. Mix these ingredients together until they form a creamy paste.

Apply the paste to your hair, and allow the paste to sit for two hours.

Shampoo and rinse your hair with cool water. Comb the wet hair with a wide-toothed comb.

Allow your hair to air-dry. Repeat this process weekly for straight, shiny hair.

Eggs and Olive Oil

Whisk together two eggs and 1 tbsp. olive oil in a small bowl.

Divide the hair into small sections. Apply the oil mixture to one section at a time.

Wrap the hair that’s covered in the oil mixture with tinfoil. Allow the mixture to sit on the hair for two hours.

Shampoo and rinse hair with cool water. Comb the wet hair with a wide-toothed comb.

Allow hair to dry naturally. Repeat this process weekly for straight, shiny hair.

Tips

  • Replace lemon juice with lime juice for the same effect.

  • Another straightening method includes applying milk without anything added to washed and dried hair with a spray bottle. Allow the milk to sit on the hair for 20 minutes before rinsing. Comb the hair straight while its wet.
