Chicken pot pies make for delicious dinners. You can buy them frozen for a quick meal, but making them yourself will allow you to add the ingredients you love. Making your own chicken pot pie crust is what makes the homemade dish better than frozen versions. Cooking a pot pie crust is not as difficult as it may sound and is worth the effort.
Stir 1 cup flour, 2 tsp. baking powder, 2 tbsp. butter, 1/4 tsp. salt and 1/3 cup milk in a large mixing bowl. Add 1/2 tsp. of spices such as sage and cumin according to your preferences.
Stir until the dough forms a ball.
Roll the ball out flat. Brush it with butter and egg.
Spread crust on the bottom and sides of a pie pan. Save the remaining crust to put on the top of your pot pie.
Follow the baking directions for your pot pie, checking often to make sure the crust is not getting overdone. It will be a golden brown color when it is finished.
