Golden bronze tanned skin is a look many people desire. It can take many hours, over the course of weeks, to get the perfect tan. However, you can speed up the process with the help of a suntan lotion. This type of lotion works by making your skin more sensitive to the sun, which causes it to tan faster. Suntan lotions are readily available in stores, but you can save money by making your own.

Things You'll Need

Add 3/4 cup of water to a saucepan. Put it on the stove and set the temperature to high heat.

Add three tea bags to the water once it comes to a boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Wring the tea bags before you remove them from the water.

Put 1/4 cup lanolin, 1/4 cup sesame oil and 1/4 cup of the tea into a blender. Blend at low speed until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

Wipe the sides of the blender with a spatula and force the oil down to the blades if necessary.

Add the remaining tea to the blender and blend at low speed until it forms an even, creamy consistency, usually no more than a few seconds.

Tips

  • The lanolin provides a protective barrier against water, so you can go swimming with this lotion and not worry about it washing off in the water. Add two to three drops of essential oils, such as lavender, if you want a scented lotion.
