How to Make Saltine Crackers

Here is a great recipe for crackers that are similar to saltines. This recipe yields about 120 crackers.

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2

Combine flour, baking powder and shortening in a mixer. Once mixed, add milk and blend well.

Step 3

Form a large round ball with the dough and split it into four separate sections.

Step 4

Roll out one of the sections until it is about 1/8 of an inch thick.

Step 5

Cut the dough into squares with a knife, pizza cutter or pastry roller with crinkled edges. Repeat with the three other sections.

Step 6

Sprinkle salt (to taste) onto an ungreased cookie sheet and lay the dough on it. Using a fork, prick the dough repeatedly in 1/2-inch increments.

Step 7

Bake for about 14-20 minutes, until the crackers are a golden brown.
