Beauty tips are a dime a dozen, but one that remains tried-and-true is to always take off your makeup before going to bed. While store-bought makeup remover works wonders at getting off waterproof mascara and dark black eyeliner, it comes at a price. Not only can makeup removers be expensive, many are made with ingredients that can irritate your skin. Make your own makeup remover to save money — and know exactly what you’re putting on your face.
Things You'll Need
Pour ½ cup olive oil into a jar with a lid. Add ¼ cup witch hazel. Whisk the two ingredients together.
Add 1 teaspoon avocado oil and 1 tablespoon coconut oil. Prick 2 vitamin E capsules with a pin and squeeze the oil into the jar with the other ingredients. Whisk the mixture again.
Moisten a cotton ball with the makeup remover. Rub it gently over one eye to remove eye makeup. Use a fresh, moistened cotton ball to remove the makeup from the other eye.
Moisten another cotton ball with the mixture. Rub it gently over your cheeks, forehead, chin, nose and other areas of your face. Use small, circular motions when wiping, and switch to a fresh, moistened cotton ball as one becomes filled with makeup. If the oil residue from the makeup remover bothers you, wipe your face with a damp washcloth after removing the makeup.
Use olive oil alone to remove makeup, if you like.
