Healthy treats and desserts that actually taste good can be hard to find. Luckily, one of the easiest frozen snacks you can make at home also happens to be tasty. Healthy frozen banana treats take little prep work and can taste as good as store-bought desserts. Making frozen banana treats can be a lot of fun for the whole family, so involve your children when assembling these treats.
Things You'll Need
Leave your bananas out until the peels develop brown speckles. Normally if your bananas get to this stage of ripeness, you’d likely toss them in the trash. However, when making frozen banana treats the riper the bananas, the better. As the bananas ripen, they get sweeter but become gooey. The texture won’t matter, as they will be frozen anyway.
Peel the banana and cut it in half. If it’s a small banana, leave it whole if it will fit on your wooden stick. Remove all of the strings from the banana.
Skewer the banana gently on the wooden stick. Make sure the stick goes through the center of the banana. Be careful not to put the stick all the way through the banana, as it might break when it comes time to freeze it.
Spread some fat-free vanilla yogurt on the sides of the bananas. Roll the coated bananas in a granola-based cereal of your choice.
Line a baking sheet with waxed paper. Place the coated bananas on the baking sheet and slide the sheet into the freezer. Freeze the bananas for about an hour until they’re firm. Once firm, wrap the bananas individually in plastic wrap.
