If you’re planning to make tacos and forget to purchase the seasoning or are sick of the usual taco seasoning flavors, you can make your own seasoning at home. Making your own seasoning with a variety of spices allows you to customize it. Once you make the taco seasoning, add it to pork, beef, turkey or chicken to create a flavorful meal.
Things You'll Need
Combine 1 tsp. cornstarch, 2 tsp. chili powder, 1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt, 2 tsp. garlic powder, 1 tsp. ground cumin, 1 tsp. cayenne pepper and 2 tsp. dried onion in a zip-top storage bag.
Shake the bag to combine the ingredients until the onions are well distributed.
Pour the ingredients into an airtight container. Use the homemade taco mixture within 1 year.
Add 7 tsp. of the mixture to 1 lb. of meat. Add more or less taco seasoning to the meat to suit your tastes.
Experiment by altering the amounts of the different seasonings to your preferences.
