Dry, oily and even sensitive skin are no match for the all-powerful egg. When your skin is in need of a pick-me-up, head to the fridge and crack open an egg. It absorbs oil to help oily and acne-prone skin, draws in moisture when combined with a moisturizing agent, and may even provide anti-aging benefits such as skin tightening and a brighter complexion.


Mix It Up

Mix up a basic egg-white face mask — good for normal skin — and add ingredients based on your skin type. For a basic mask, separate the yolk from the white of an egg and beat the white until it’s frothy. This is all that is needed for the mask. If you suffer from oily skin, add half of a pureed banana and a splash of apple-cider vinegar. For dry skin, add a teaspoon of honey. If your skin is sensitive, use only the egg white on your face, but test it on a small patch first to ensure it doesn’t irritate your skin.

Put It On

Start with clean dry skin. Wash your face with your regular facial cleanser, then pat it dry with a towel. Massage the egg white mask onto your skin, avoiding the eyes and mouth. Leave the mask on your face for 15 to 30 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Follow up with a facial moisturizer designed specifically for your skin type.
