The hurricane is a traditional cocktail from the deep South that has become an absolute staple at events like Mardi Gras. Another such Southern product is the delicious cordial that’s known as Southern Comfort. What do you get when you combine the two? Here’s how to make your own Southern Comfort hurricane.
Things You'll Need
Fill the hurricane glass half full of ice.
Add the Southern Comfort to the hurricane glass.
Let the Southern Comfort chill in the glass for about 1 minute.
Add the juices to the hurricane glass along with the sour mix.
Add the grenadine to the hurricane glass.
Stir the cocktail thoroughly to ensure the ingredients are mixed together.
Garnish by adding a maraschino cherry to the hurricane glass and placing a wedge of orange on the rim of the glass.
To make a traditional hurricane, simply replace the Southern Comfort with rum.
This recipe calls for a fairly large amount of alcohol. If you want to tone down its potency, simply use 1 or 2 oz. of Southern Comfort instead of 3.
