A purple hooter is a mixed drink typically served as a small cocktail or as a large shot. It gets the distinctive purple color and candy-like scent from flavored liqueur. Many purple hooter variations exist, but the basic ingredients are usually the same. Whether you’re a seasoned cocktail mixer or you have never made a mixed drink, making purple hooter shots is foolproof.
Things You'll Need
Fill a cocktail mixer about halfway with ice. Set your cocktail or shot glasses on your work surface for easy access.
Pour equal amounts of vodka, raspberry liqueur, and cranberry or lemon juice into the cocktail mixer. A single shot would use between 1/2 and 1 ounce of each.
Shake the cocktail mixer to chill the purple hooter and then strain it into your glasses.
Add a splash of club soda, sweet and sour mix or cherry-flavored brandy to each glass depending on flavor preference. These ingredients are not essential for a purple hooter shot, but they’re some of the many ways this drink is customized.
Serve the purple hooter shots immediately.
To make your purple hooters feel more refined, serve them with a garnish of a lemon, lime or orange wedge, crushed mint leaves or a frozen raspberry.
You can make purple hooters in advance by blending the ingredients and refrigerating them in a pitcher until you’re ready to serve.
