An easy recipe for chocolate mocha cake.
Things You'll Need
Heat oven to 350. In double boiler over med. heat, bring water to a simmer, or set heat-proof bowl over a pot filled with 2″ simmering water, making sure bottom of bowl is not touching water. Add 3 chocolate bars, butter and kahlua. Cook until melted and then remove from heat and cool until room temp.
Beat egg yolks and sugar with your electric mixer on high for approx. 3 minutes or until thickened. Fold in cooled chocolate mix. In separate bowl mix egg whites 5 minutes or until stiff peaks form. Fold egg whites into chocolate mix and then pour into 9″ cake pan coated with bakers joy.
Bake 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Cool cake for 10 minutes then remove from the pan and cool completely.
Mix 1/2 cup boiling water and remaining chocolate in med. size mixing bowl, let sit 2 minutes. Stir until smooth, and then let cool 2 minutes. Pour chocolate over cake to coat,and chill before serving.
