The black Russian is a two-part cocktail consisting of coffee liqueur and vodka. The most commonly used liquor is Kahlua. This gives the cocktail the taste of sweetened coffee, which complements vodka’s somewhat neutral taste. There are many variations to this simple cocktail to suit your taste buds. You can use a variety of coffee liqueurs or flavored vodkas or add an ingredient of your own.
- 2 ounces vodka
- 1 ounce Kahlua
Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice cubes.
Pour the vodka over the ice, followed by the Kahlua.
Stir and serve.
Use equal parts of vodka and Kahlua for a sweeter cocktail.
Dirty Black Russian
Transfer the ice, vodka and Kahlua into a highball glass and fill it with a cola of your choice.
